NCAA
It can't be denied just how exciting the crop of Flames prospects in the NCAA have been this season, and after a great year in 2025/26, it appears as though 2026/27 is set to far surpass that. Last year, it was Ethan Wyttenbach leading the NCAA in scoring, and as of right now through five games, another hot week has him sitting third in the NCAA scoring charts.

This past week was capped off with yet another highlight reel goal, and now, it appears as though it's more than just Flames fans taking note of the Quinnipiac star, with his statline now looking like this: 5GP, 4G, 7A, 11P, +7.
He's not the only returning NCAA star that appears to be taking a step forward this season, as North Dakota captain Cole Reschny has taken his game to a new level, as he now has half the goals he had a year ago in just 4 games.
Another point for Cole Reschny 🚨

In those four games, Reschny now has 3 goals and 5 points with a +2 differential, and given the two-way game and the immense leadership, he's shaping up to be one of the best players in college hockey this season. Elsewhere at North Dakota, first-round pick Carson Carels found the scoresheet for the first time in 2026/27, and now, he's got two assists through four games, playing a very responsible game defensively for NDU.
Beyond that, Michigan State has seen a strong start from Flames prospects as well, with Jack Hextall being perhaps the surprise of the first two weeks for the team, posting 2 goals and 4 points through his first three games played. Then, there's Cullen Potter, who is clearly adjusting to the new program in 2026/27, with one goal and two points through three games for the former first-round pick, with the high end speed still getting him opportunities.
The other big name to watch this season is Henry Mews at Michigan, and with 4 assists in six games after posting 9 in 10 games before an injury in 2025/26, he's clearly found his role and is excelling, showing upside for a potential pro career down the line.
Outside of the big names, there's also been some great performances, with the following players having varied levels of success early in the year:
Trevor Hoskin: 4GP, 1G, 3A, 4P, -1
Egor Barabanov: 6GP, 2G, 1A, 3P, +1
Cade Littler: 6GP, 0G, 3A, 3P, -6
Luke Misa: 3GP, 1G, 1A, 2P, -2
Jaden Lipinski: 3GP, 0G, 0A, 0P, +0
Eric Jamieson: 4GP, 0G, 0A, 0P, -1
Max Curran: 6GP, 0G, 0A, 0P, -1
The Flames also have two goaltenders in the NCAA this year, with both playing one game to date in 2026/27, having very different results as they look to push for a role in the Flames very crowded goaltending ranks:
Yegor Yegorov: 1GP, 2.01 GAA, .909 save %, 1-0-0
Tobias Trejbal: 1GP, 5.02 GAA, .850 save %, 0-1-0
