No. 55 overall: Original Selection - LW Ryan Roobroeck

Heading into last season, Ryan Roobroeck was considered a lock to go in the first round, but after his production fell off a cliff in the Ontario Hockey League, his stock has fallen dramatically. That's not to say that he was bad, as Roobroeck still posted 30 goals and 58 points in 49 games, but after raising some concerns heading into the 2025/26 season, it seems as though they weren't addressed.

Still, he has a big, heavy shot that will play at the NHL level, and standing at 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, it's easy to see why the Flames would be interested in him at No. 55 overall after prioritizing skill earlier in the draft.

Revised No. 55 Selection: LW Ryan Roobroeck

Other options: C Tomas Chrenko, C Olivers Murnieks

Despite the question marks about his inconsistent levels of engagement on the ice and the need to improve his pace and acceleration, Roobroeck would be a good player for the Flames to take a shot on here.

Sure, the team could go for either of the centres listed above, but after drafting two already in our re-draft following the selections of Cole Reschny, Cullen Potter and Theo Stockselius a year ago, getting a big body with high end traits makes sense here. While 2025/26 wasn't incredible for Roobroeck, he did post 41 goals in 64 games the season before, and given how consistent he's been with his goal scoring, the Flames can absolutely take a risk on him here.
