Verdict

On paper, there are some standout misses from The Athletic here, and while there were some good picks as well, it's clear that their draft package simply doesn't address any of the Flames biggest needs.

Original draft haul: RHD Keaton Verhoeff, LW Liam Ruck, RW Mathis Preston, G Tobias Trejbal, F Markus Ruck, LW Ryan Roobreck (1 RHD, four wingers, 1 G)

Revised draft haul: C Viggo Bjorck, RW Nikita Klepov, LW Marcus Nordmark, LHD Ben MacBeath, C Egor Shilov, LW Ryan Roobreck (2 centres, 1 RW, 2 LW, 1 LHD)

Only time will tell which of these draft hauls would work out best for the Flames, but with the addition of another LHD, a top tier C prospect along with a project centre and some improved wingers, we believe things would play out much better in this scenario.
