4. Mason McTavish

Mason McTavish was once the No. 3 overall pick by the Anaheim Ducks, and early in his career, the numbers look very solid, as he has posted 181 points in 304 games, averaging 45 points a season thus far. However, people in Anaheim have seemingly soured on him, and with the arrival of Leo Carlsson and Mikael Granlund to be the top two centres on the team, he's fallen out of favour a little, especially in their recent post-season run.

On paper, he's a good fit for the Flames, as he plays a major position of need and could be a solid 60-point player if given the opportunity and playing time, which will certainly be available in Calgary moving forward. However, the skating speed has been a major problem for McTavish in the NHL, and given the emphasis on speed in the modern game, that's a major issue alongside his defensive inconsistencies, making him a potential candidate for Calgary, but not the ideal one.

Verdict: McTavish has the talent to be a difference maker in the NHL, but hasn't yet taken the leap, and given that it's a division rival in the Ducks, any deal to land him would likely be too expensive. Still, it's one the Flames should explore if they can't get a long-term deal done with Morgan Frost. What are the chances it happens? 4/10

3. Olen Zellweger

Speaking of players who have fallen out of favour in Anaheim and were scratched in the post-season, Calgary native Olen Zellweger is perhaps the best fit for the Flames out of anyone on this list, as he plays a position of major need at LHD.

Not only that, but he's a responsible defender with tremendous offensive upside, and with the right side set with Parekh, Brzustewicz and Whitecloud, Zellweger may be the perfect compliment to that group. For some time now, Flames fans have dreamed of landing Zellweger, so whether it's via trade or offer sheet, it's an addition that would be perfect for Calgary, especially given how the Ducks left-side is set up for years to come.

Verdict: Not only does Zellweger fill a role for the Flames, but he's a Calgary native, and after being scratched in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he should be right at the top of the Flames wishlist. What are the chances it happens? 8/10
