The Calgary Flames saw several young players emerge in 2025/26

The single most important thing for the Calgary Flames coming into 2025/26 was the future, and while many are looking forward to the Draft Lottery, there was plenty to love on the ice for U23 players this season. While there were ups and downs early, former No. 9 overall pick Zayne Parekh has flashed incredible potential in recent times, and with 4 goals on the year and an increased workload since the trade deadline, he's looking like a genuine star of the future on the blue line.
Not to be outdone, Hunter Brzustewicz established himself as an NHL regular this season as well, and while the production wasn't there, the two of them made it clear that the right side of the defence is theirs for years to come. Perhaps the best producer of the season among the rookies though was Matvei Gridin, who won a spot on this roster out of training camp, and since his recall from the AHL, he has been fantastic, as he has posted 6 goals and 19 points in 36 games played on the year.
Over the next few seasons, the Flames and Wranglers will see an influx of talent like Andrew Basha, Cole Reschny, Cullen Potter, Ethan Wyttenbach and others, and given the start their young players got off too this season, it's easy to be increasingly optimistic about the future.
