The Calgary Flames schedule is here, and while the team don't have high hopes for 2026/27, there's still plenty of exciting games to look forward too.

2. Not one, but two March Battle of Alberta's

Ahead of this schedule release, fans were excited about the return to four Battle of Alberta's with the expanded 84-game schedule, but after the first in Edmonton on October 28th, the Flames won't see the Oilers again until March 3rd, the first of two at home this season. The next comes on March 23rd, and after so much history at the Scotiabank Saddledome between these two provincial rivals, that could be a very, very emotional game.

The last Battle of Alberta will come in April however, with the Flames 82nd game of the season coming in Edmonton on April 5th, and while that's an Oilers team that will be hopeful of playoff contention, this should be a very competitive game regardless of what the standings will likely say.

1. Final Home Opener, Saddledome Farewell

While the youth and the rebuild will be at the forefront of the Flames 2026/27 season, there's no story bigger than the farewell to the Scotiabank Saddledome, with the first game of the Flames final season in the iconic arena being on October 1st against the Seattle Kraken. The rivalry may not be that great yet, but this is clearly the NHL putting it front and centre as they look to develop these teams as rivals, and with the Flames showing interest in Shane Wright, there may be another wrinkle to this story before the season begins.

Then, in what will be the most emotional game since the season opener of 2024/25 to bid farewell to Johnny Gaudreau or the Jersey Retirement night of Mikka Kipprusoff, the Flames will say goodbye to the Scotiabank Saddledome in a matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. Some fans are frustrated that it wasn't a Battle of Alberta to close out the Saddledome, but the Canucks are a worthy rival of the Flames, and given their current rebuild, the hope is that Calgary can close out the Saddledome chapter of the franchise with a big victory.
