2. Jonathan Huberdeau
Jonathan Huberdeau arrived in Calgary on the back of a career high 115 points and was immediately handed a massive deal by then GM Brad Treliving, putting pressure on him to keep up that level of play.
Unfortunately, it's been nothing but negative for Huberdeau in Calgary to this point, and last season was rock bottom, with the 33-year-old veteran tallying just 25 points across 50 games played before his campaign came to an end due to injury. However, there's hope that he can bounce back, and after what we saw from him in 2024/25 with the Flames, it's clear that there's still a very good player in there.
In a recent update, Craig Conroy revealed that Huberdeau won't be ready for the regular season, and his training camp will come at a later date before rejoining the team, so while he won't be at camp with the rest of the team, he's still got plenty to prove heading into a new season.
1. Martin Pospisil
Last season was the worst of Martin Pospisil's career as a Calgary Flame, and while most of that was due to injury, even when he was back to 100%, he just didn't effect the game the same way he did in recent years. Obviously, a player with a history of concussions won't be running around and taking down opponents like he did before that became a bigger concern, but that raises the question, what can Pospisil be if that isn't his game anymore?
Offensively, he lacked production again in his opportunities in 2025/26, posting just 1 goal and 3 points in 22 games played, and with the likes of Tyson Gross, Aydar Suniev and Jonathan Castagna all fighting for bottom-six roles moving forward, Pospisil's role may end up becoming someone elses.
However, if he can turn up to training camp full of the energy and enthusiasm that we've seen in years gone by to get him back to the 25 point player we saw in 2024/25, there's definitely a role on the fourth line for No. 76.
