The Calgary Flames prospect pool in 2026 may be arguably their best and deepest in the history of the franchise, and after adding another nine players at the 2026 NHL Draft, things are about to get highly competitive for these young players chasing spots on the NHL roster.
While the team have seemingly prioritized picking Canadian players (13 picks since 2024 have been from the CHL), but in that time, they've also taken best player available on several occasions, resulting in picks from Sweden, Russia, the United States and several other countries. Right now though, several of their top prospects are out of the US, and ahead of the World Juniors in December/January, four of them have been invited to the USA's Summer Showcase.

The obvious three are first-round picks Cullen Potter and Jack Hextall alongside NCAA standout Ethan Wyttenbach, with all three expected to feature at the World Juniors on the back of impressive 2025/26 campaigns. Perhaps the biggest surprise among Flames prospects however is defenseman Mace'o Phillips, and while the USHL blue liner may be a long shot to make the roster, making it to the Summer Showcase shows how much he's improved in recent times.
It's unclear how many of the four will have genuine chances to feature for the United States at the 2026 World Juniors tournament, but with three of the four set to play at the college level again in 2026/27 after featuring at this showcase, it's safe to say that the opportunity could be there.
