This year in Calgary is all about the future, and while Ryan Huska is still somewhat insistent on playing his veteran group, with the return of Aydar Suniev to the NHL and the arrival of Jonathan Castagna, there's been plenty to watch for Flames fans. In his 9th NHL game, it was Suniev that finally tallied his first goal, taking a feed from Matt Coronato and finishing in a very tight window.

On top of that, Simon Nemec tallied his first point with the organization, assisting on Morgan Frost's second goal of the year, and while neither have been perfect thus far, given the Flames struggles, they've both stood out early in the season.

Dustin Wolf Looked Better... Not Perfect, But Better

In two games thus far in 2026/27, Dustin Wolf allowed a combined 12 shots at the hands of the Seattle Kraken, but on Saturday, he looked much more confident, and with the Flames somewhat limiting the breakaway chances, that certainly helped his play.

By the end of the night, Wolf allowed four goals on 28 shots, and while that's not fantastic by his standards, a save percentage of .857 is certainly up from what we've seen early in the year. It would be very easy to understand if Wolf becomes increasingly frustrated with the play in front of him if his struggles continue, but he showed enough on Saturday to get another crack at the Ducks on Tuesday night.
