Offense Will be Hard to Come by in 2026/27
This game didn't feature many of the Flames top players, as Zayne Parekh and Matvei Gridin were the only guaranteed starters for Calgary to feature in this game, so it's no surprise that up against a veteran like Phillip Grubauer, the team struggled to score.
While they ended with two goals, both to Aydar Suniev, there weren't too many high-danger chances, even with the Flames getting several significant powerplay opportunities. However, Parekh, Gridin and others flashed high-end skills, but given that the Kraken weren't icing an NHL roster either, the lack of scoring could be indicative of the season to come.
There will be flashes, but given how the Flames are expected to struggle throughout the year, don't be shocked to again see them rank in the bottom-five in the National Hockey League in scoring.
