Aydar Suniev Has an NHL-Ready Shot
While offense will be hard to come by for Calgary in 2026/27, it hasn't been for Aydar Suniev thus far in the pre-season, as the former third-round pick has been the standout for Calgary in their Rookie Showcase and first pre-season outing. In those two games, the team have exactly three goals, and unsurprisingly, the young player with one of the best shots in the organization has all three of those, with two fantastic goals against Seattle.

Last season, the 21-year-old ended the AHL season with 16 goals, but picked up the production significantly down the stretch, as he had 19 points in his final 35 games with the team. As of right now, he'll likely start the 2026/27 season down in the AHL to get more seasoning, but at the first sign of a call up, he should be the first name on the Flames list, as this pre-season game showed that he has a shot ready for the NHL level.
