Coming into 2025/26, no forward in Calgary was expected to take a leap like Matt Coronato following career highs in goals (24) and points (47) a season ago. Given the flashes we saw and the elite shot, the hope was that he could turn into a 30-goal scorer in the NHL, but in 2025/26, he was up and down throughout the year.

Then, Head Coach Ryan Huska paired him with Matvei Gridin and Morgan Frost and his production took off, as Coronato went on a solid run late in the season with 4 goals and 10 in his final 15 games. Given that play, expectations rise again for Coronato coming into next season, and if he can be anywhere near a 30-goal, 60-point player, the Flames have a long-term solution in their top-six.

Grade: B

Blake Coleman

For many seasons now, Blake Coleman has been a consistent piece in the Calgary Flames middle-six, playing a key two-way role while also being the leader of the penalty kill for the Flames. In 2025/26, things were much the same for Coleman, as he consistently produced and played a tough role for the team, ending the year with 20 goals and 35 points in 69 games played.

There's plenty of talk over his future, as he is now 34-years of age with the Flames still firmly and early entrenched in a rebuild, with the belief around the league being that he will draw trade interest this summer. While Coleman doesn't do much of the highlight reel stuff for Calgary, he is a great leader that is happy with his role, and while the numbers took a dip in 2025/26, he was fantastic for the team once more.

Grade: B+
