Matvei Gridin

The standout forward of the Calgary Flames regular season was rookie Matvei Gridin, who initially earned his spot on the roster coming out of training camp and pre-season on the back of some impressive performances. While he was sent back to the AHL to get some more seasoning, he used that time to get better, posting 10 goals and 30 points in 37 games played, being named a Calgary Wranglers representitive at the All-Star Game.
Then, he made his way back to the NHL, and from there he didn't look back, as he showed his immense class down the final stretch of the season. In his final 25 games of the year, Gridin tallied 4 goals and 12 assists in that time, establishing himself as arguably the Flames most promising player of the future.
On paper, Gridin is showing flashes of being a potential superstar in the NHL, and while he finished with 6 goals and 20 points in 37 games played, he's a player that many expect to break out next season for Calgary if he's put in a position to succeed.
