The World Juniors tournament has always been one to watch for fans of NHL teams, as it gives them an opportunity to see some of their top prospects in action against very stiff competition.
For a Calgary Flames organization that has transformed their prospect pool over the past three years, the 2027 event is set to be one of the most exciting in history, with the team expected to have many of their best prospects feature at the event. It may still be months away, but WJCrankings on social media has started to predict the teams, and now, it appears as though the team may have one prospect representing Team Sweden in the form of 2025 second-round pick Theo Stockselius.
How I expect the defending gold medalists to look in 2027🇸🇪

In WJCrankings predicted lineup, Stockselius, primarily a centre would represent Sweden on their third line as a winger, and given the promise he showed when healthy a year ago, this would be another major opportunity for him to develop. At the junior level in Sweden a year ago, Stockselius was dominant when healthy, posting 9 goals and 20 points in just 11 playoff games for Djurgardens.
Only time will tell if he can stay healthy this season, but at 6-foot-3, 196 pounds with immense upside and skill, if he can play a key role for Sweden at the World Juniors, he'll solidify himself as one of the Flames top prospects with a very bright future in the National Hockey League.
