It was only a matter of days ago that the 2023/24 season ended with the Stanley Cup Finals, but now, we are looking forward to the 2024/25 campaign, with the Calgary Flames and other teams announcing their regular season schedule.
As for the Flames, they'll open the season on October 9th in Vancouver against the Canucks, following that up with their home opener on October 12th against the highly intriguing Philadelphia Flyers. The first of three Battle of Alberta's this year will take place in Edmonton on October 13th, with the second being in Calgary on November 3rd before the season series wraps up in a disappointing three games on March 29th in Edmonton.
Other games to note will be the arrival of the Utah Hockey Club, who the Flames will play in Utah for the first time on October 30th before the Flames welcome them to the SaddleDome for the very first time on January 2nd.
On December 17th, Calgary will welcome back the former Flames pairing of Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov with the Boston Bruins, while December 3rd will mark the first time that the Flames play against the beloved pairing of Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ultimately, this is a regular season that will be full of pessimism for many Flames fans, but given the great work that Craig Conroy has done in recent days and the emergence of Connor Zary, Martin Pospisil, Dustin Wolf and other potential names like Jeremie Poirier, there's plenty to look forward too this year with the Calgary Flames.
