Calgary Flames release fantastic update on Oliver Kylington
While there's been plenty on the ice for Calgary Flames fans to enjoy, there's been one story behind the scenes that they've all been waiting for, and that's an update on beloved defenseman Oliver Kylington.
Kylington has missed the past two seasons due to personal reasons, but ahead of this season, he returned to Calgary to work his way back to the ice, and now it's clearly paying off, as the team announced he had been assigned to the Wranglers to complete a conditioning assessment.
This comes after the 26-year-old was spotted skating with his teammates a few weeks ago, and it appears as though he's doing much better, and could make his in-game return at any point over the next few months.
In a statement, Kylington gave the fans a great update, revealing that he's in a much better place and that returning to Calgary with the support of the Flames staff and fans has been a great help. While this doesn't give us any potential news on his return to the ice in a game, things are moving in the right direction, and after scoring 9 goals and 31 points in his last full season (2021-22), his return could certainly help the Flames if they were to trade one or more of their veteran stars.
It's fantastic to see Kylington back no matter what capacity, and from GM Craig Conroy's statement above, it's clear that the staff are very excited about his return, so now we will just wait and see when the young defenseman will be back on the ice in a game situation.
