The Calgary Flames 2023-24 season is done and dusted, and while there were some great moments and fantastic performances, the team just couldn’t put it all together, ending the season in fifth place in the division with a 38-39-5 record. It’s not what any fans wanted or expected, but the Flames now look towards the future, and there’s no better way to renew optimism in a fan base than adding a top tier talent in the NHL Draft.

Unfortunately for Flames fans, the 2024 NHL Draft isn’t until June 28, but with the conclusion of the 2023-24 season officially, we now know what the Flames odds will be heading into a monumental weekend for the organization.

Right now, the Calgary Flames have a 5.0% chance at jumping all the way up to No. 1 overall in the draft, while their best odds will see them pick at No. 9 overall. Obviously this isn’t the ideal result from a poor season, as many fans would love to see the team land Macklin Celebrini atop the draft, but given how often they have picked in the mid-teens, this has to be seen as a major win.

There’s absolutely no telling at this point how the draft board will play out, but with the top 10-12 players in the draft expected to have incredibly bright futures, it appears as though, unless something drastic happens, the Calgary Flames will have a shot at landing a fantastic prospect in a few months time. For now though, the waiting game begins.
