4. Ethan Wyttenbach, LW/RW
Ethan Wyttenbach broke onto the scene in 2025/26 at the NCAA level with Quinnipiac, and after the results, it's truly hard to believe that he fell all the way to pick No. 144 to the Flames in the fifth-round. His decision to make the leap to college came late in the off-season process, but when he arrived, he hit the ground running, posting 25 goals and 59 points in just 40 games as a freshman, leading the nation in scoring.
While he proved that the size didn't hold him back at that level, it may be a concern moving forward, as he stands at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, but with an elite shot, solid skating and high level confidence, it's easy to see why the Flames were so excited about landing him late in the draft.
3. Cole Reschny, C
The Calgary Flames have been in desperate need of a top line centre for years now, and while Cole Reschny may not be the answer, after Calgary lost their own first-round pick a year ago, it was a no-brainer to take Reschny with the No. 18 overall pick. The production this season wasn't massive at North Dakota, but with 6 goals and 35 points in 36 games as an 18-year old, it's hard to deny how impressive he was in his freshman campaign.
It wasn't just that, as Reschny also starred for Team Canada at the World Juniors tournament, with 5 goals and 5 points in 7 games played showing that he's capable of stepping up when the lights are on brightest. Reschny will return to NDU for his second season in 2026/27, but given his potential as a two-way player at the NHL level, it's safe to say that right now, he's the Flames best chance of landing a genuine top-six centre to lead them into the future.
