20. G Arsenii Sergeev
The first of three goaltenders on this list, Arsenii Sergeev is the only one with NHL experience after he made his debut in Game 82 this past season, stopping all but one of the 28 shots he faced as he led the Flames to a victory. It was an improbable rise for Sergeev who played games in both the ECHL and the AHL last year, and in 29 games with the Wranglers he was more than solid, posting a 3.35 GAA and an .898 save percentage.
With elite size at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Sergeev has all the skills and the confidence needed to be a goaltender at the NHL level, and with speculation over Devin Cooley's future in Calgary, that could lead to him having a bigger role in the near future. He may never be a full-time starter in the NHL, only time will tell, but for now, the future is looking very promising for the former seventh-round pick.
19. LHD Abram Wiebe
Abram Wiebe is an interesting prospect for the Flames, as he arrived in the Rasmus Andersson trade, and immediately after departing North Dakota, he was into the lineup for several NHL games down the stretch. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, he clearly has the size to be a difference maker at the NHL level, and while he didn't find his way onto the scoresheet in 4 games for the Flames, he posted 4 goals and 29 points for NDU this past season.
There's a logjam on the Flames blue line ahead of him, but with his combination of patience, vision, playmaking and hockey IQ to go along with the size, Wiebe could easily force his way onto the Flames third pairing moving forward, and if not, he should be able to impose his will on the AHL for the Wranglers.
