16. LW Aydar Suniev
Aydar Suniev was drafted by the Flames in the third-round of the 2023 NHL draft courtesy of the Tyler Toffoli trade, and after two seasons at UMass, he showed why many believe he's built for the modern NHL. Though he took his time adjusting in the AHL this past season, Suniev posted 16 goals in 57 games for the Calgary Wranglers, and as time went on, his goal scoring abilities showed at a consistent rate.
Late in the year, Suniev dressed in 6 games for the Flames, and while he only had 1 assist in that time, he clearly got comfortable, and the Flames should prioritize getting the 21-year-old winger a permanent role in 2026/27. It's unclear what his ceiling is, but after posting 32 goals in 71 college games, he can clearly score, so with the Flames needing middle-six wingers to do just that, the hope is he can develop nicely this season and become a key piece of the future forward group.
15. F Andrew Basha
Andrew Basha is one of the more interesting prospects in the Flames organization, and while it's unclear what his ceiling or role could be with the team, he has continued to produce as he looks to force his way into the NHL. The Calgary native struggled to get time with the Wranglers early in 2025/26, and as a result he went back to Medicine Hat, dominating there as he posted 18 goals and 50 points in 32 games, capping it off with 3 goals and 21 points in 15 WHL playoff games.
However, the most interesting part of his season was how often he played down the middle for Medicine Hat, and although he was drafted as a winger, this has opened the door to a potential centre role for the Wranglers in 2026/27. At 6-foot-0, 190 pounds, Basha has the size and the skill to make it at the next level, and while his development may be slower than others in the organization, right now, there's confidence he can be a very good player in the NHL yet.
