12. LW Chase Harrington
The Calgary Flames had plenty of players to choose from at No. 36 in the 2026 NHL Draft, but in that moment they went with the incredibly physical Chase Harrington of the Spokane Chiefs, and unfortunately, it wasn't a very popular choice. The offensive upside is certainly limited, but according to many WHL prospects coming into the draft, he was the hardest player to play against throughout their junior careers.
However, the Flames plans were sound, as they drafted for immense skill in 2025, and in 2026 they wanted to get physical, with the 6-foot-1, 195 pound Harrington filling that latter necessity confidently. He may never be a top-six player in the NHL, and likely tops out as a grinding, hard-hitting third-line winger, but the Flames front office gets the benefit of the doubt that he can reach that potential after their moves in the past three years.
11. G Tobias Trejbal
With Dustin Wolf between the pipes, very few expected the Flames to take a goaltender in the 2026 NHL Draft, but not only did they do that, they traded up in the second round to get him. That goalie would be Tobias Trejbal out of the USHL, who was considered the concensus No. 1 in the draft, and it's very easy to see why the Flames fell in love with him.
At 6-foot-4, Trejbal is the perfect build for the modern NHL, and in 2025/26 he dominated for the Youngstown Phantoms, posting a 2.12 GAA and a .916 save percentage across 42 games. Sure, we have Dustin Wolf for now, but Trejbal likely isn't going to make the NHL level (if ever) for 3-5 years, and for a team that wants insurance in net, there was no better prospect to pick up in 2026 than Trejbal.
