10. LW Sam Honzek
Samuel Honzek was the first pick of the Craig Conroy era in Calgary, and while they've improved their drafting since that point, that's not to say that the talented 20-year-old can't still make something of himself in the NHL. In fact, last season before he was injured, Honzek started to find his ryhthm, posting 2 goals and 4 points in 18 games in his first extended look at the NHL level, and if he can put on some weight like he has reportedly done, he could be a very valuable middle-six forward.
The ceiling as a star forward just isn't there, but given his size at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, even if Honzek can settle in as a 40-50 point player in the NHL, the Flames will have a valuable player that can stay in that role for a long time. He's dealt with injuries over the past two seasons though, so while he's still young, the 2026/27 campaign is his time to finally step up and solidify a role in this Flames organization.
9. F Cullen Potter
Cullen Potter was someone the Flames coveted highly in the 2025 NHL Draft, and after he fell to them at No. 32 overall, they swooped in and landed the then Arizona State prospect. Unfortunately, like Mews, his season was ended due to injury, but with a pending move to Michigan State, the step up in competition will do him the world of good as he gets back to 100%.
In 24 games before the injury however, Potter quickly found his groove, posting 12 goals and 26 points in 24 games played, and while he's undersized at 5-foot-10, the speed he brings more than makes up for it. While he was drafted at centre, Potter is likely to play wing at the professional level, but either way, if he can recovery and rekindle that form in college this year, we could see him with the Flames, sooner rather than later.
