The growth of college hockey in the past few years has been a great thing for the sport, and with so many prospect opting to head to the NCAA instead of making the jump right to the NHL or staying in the CHL/USHL, it continues to grow and grow.
For the Calgary Flames, it's a huge helper in developing their prospects, with over 10 of the Flames top prospects set to play at the college level over the next few years. That includes some of their top prospects, and now, four of them are set to play in what is being termed as 'one of the biggest college hockey games ever'.

That game will take place on Halloween in Austin Texas, as North Dakota and Michigan State do battle in a game that could define the NCAA season, with 13 combined first-round picks set to take the ice, the most in one college hockey game ever. So why is this matchup so important to the Flames and their fans?
Out of those 13 first-round picks, four of them are Flames prospects, with Jack Hextall and Cullen Potter set to represent MSU while Cole Reschny and Carson Carels will suit up for NDU in this blockbuster showdown.
While there's still going to plenty to watch for Flames fans in the CHL over the years, this is one that should have everyone's attention, as it will be a great way to see how these prospects handle the pressure of such a big game, with all four having very bright futures at the highest level.
