Team USA - Ethan Wyttenbach, Cullen Potter
Team USA hasn't featured too many Flames prospects in recent years, but in the 2027 tournament, Ethan Wyttenbach, a 2025 fifth-round pick may be the most important player to the United States' potential success. During the World Juniors Showcase, Wyttenbach was clearly the best player at the event, and after leading the NCAA in scoring in 2025/26, he did the same at the showcase, showing off a well developed playmaking game on top of his immense release.
With Wyttenbach likely to play on the top line, the Flames could have Cullen Potter on the third line too, and while he didn't feature at the Summer Showcase due to precautions around his injury recovery, fans shouldn't forget how good he looked in 2025/26. Before the injury, Potter posted 12 goals and 26 points in 24 games played, and given the immense speed he provides, he'll bring something unique to the US team and to Calgary whenever he arrives.
Both have some improving to do physically before getting full-time roles in the NHL, but if they can both play top-nine roles for the US at the World Juniors and dominate the college game, the Flames may have two potential stars on their hands.
