1. The Flames Have Plenty of Forward Talent on the Way
Obviously, scoring just one goal in a prospects game isn't a good look for the Flames, but given the relative inexperience of many in the lineup, it was always going to be hard to take down an Oilers team full of 22-25 year old players. However, there were some good performances, and while Matvei Gridin was solid as expected, there were several standouts that took the first step in showing they have potential at the NHL level.
Chief among those was 2026 second-round pick Chase Harrington, who was quick, decisive and most of all, a pest to the rival team, with his physical nature and ability to get under his opponents skin being key reasons why the Flames drafted him. Then, there was the lone goal scorer Aydar Suniev, who impressed in the AHL a season ago with the Wranglers, and given how many chances he created, he showed that he's got a very bright future in the organization.
Beyond those three, the likes of Andrew Basha, Jonathan Castagna and Tyson Gross, all of whom showed flashes throughout the game, and while none of the five are likely going to be full-time NHLers this season, they all put on for the Flames fans, making a good impression on Saddledome ice for the Flames front office.
