2. Matt Coronato Has the Potential to Score 30+

It's been said for the past three years that Matt Coronato is a player capable of scoring 30+ goals in the NHL in a season, and while he had just one in this contest, the elite release showed why many believe that.
While the 23-year-old only had the one shot on net, he was dynamic in the offensive zone, creating opportunities for himself and others, and with the chemistry with Parekh and Nemec growing, there's clear signs of a breakout year incoming.
Obviously, the lack of offense around Coronato will severely limit him, but if he keeps getting the opportunities on the top line and top PP unit, there's no reason why he can't finally fulfill his potential in 2026/27.
1. The Energy was Better, the Finishing was Non-Existant
On opening night, the Flames were absolutely battered by the Seattle Kraken, and while there were flashes, sustained pressure and offensive opportunities were very few and far between. In this one, the team looked much better, and with several powerplay opportunities, they found some rhythm.
Unfortunately, outside of a beautiful snipe from Coronato on the PP, the team just couldn't capitalize, despite several moments of sustained pressure on a team that's struggled defensively through their first few games this season. This is what we expected coming into 2026/27, as the team have very few players that are capable of creating offense, and it showed once again in this matchup, with a tough year ahead for this group unless they find an injection of elite level play.
