2. Jonathan Huberdeau
Jonathan Huberdeau has been a very disappointing Calgary Flame thus far, but in 2025/26, he was at his very worst, compiling just 10 goals and 25 points in 50 games played, with his season ending early for a hip procedure. If he's back to 100% this off-season however, there's a chance he can have a major bounce back, with the veteran winger posting his highest goal total as a member of the Flames back in 2024/25 in 28.
As of right now, it's unclear whether or not he'll be back to 100% on the back of his surgery, but if he is, the Flames need to prioritize getting him back to his best, and pairing him with a young finisher like Aydar Suniev may be just what they need to accomplish that. While many have given up hopes of Huberdeau living up to his lofty contract, he can still be a good contributor, and after posting 62 points in 2024/25, if he can get close to that next season, he could be among the Flames top scorers.
1. Matvei Gridin
Last season, the emergence of young winger Matvei Gridin may have been the best story in Calgary, and down the stretch, he showed just how good he can be, with the 19-year-old tallying 4 goals and 16 points over his final 25 games of the year. Paired with Morgan Frost and Matt Coronato, the trio showed true potential, and with very little elite talent on this team, putting the three together again to start the season could at least give the Flames one consistent line.
While Gridin will need to improve his finishing, the hockey IQ, the confidence and the passing are all at NHL level already, and with a full off-season under his belt alongside his linemates, the production should grow from a promising rookie campaign. Whether or not Gridin is an elite first-line winger of the future, only time will tell, but on a bad Flames team, he should be on a line with the teams best players, and with significant PP1 time on top of that, Gridin should lead the Flames in scoring next year.
