4. RHD Tim Runtso

At this point of the draft, the Flames are likely to have taken players at several different positions, and now they'll simply be looking to bet on upside, something that Tim Runtso out of the WHL has. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Runtso has a physical presence on the blue line and he knows how to use his body, but that doesn't mean he can't score either.

In his lone WHL season to date, Runtso netted 11 goals and 44 points in 68 games played, and at the next level, he's going to be expected to play a heavy workload, something he did all season in Vancouver. The upside is promising but isn't quite as exciting as other prospects that could be available, but given his two-way abilities on the blue line, he'd be a good pick for the Flames.

3. C Beckett Hamilton

In years gone by, the Flames would not be considering a player under 6-foot-0, especially one that plays up the middle, but these days under Craig Conroy, the team are betting on high end skill, rather than purely size. If that's the case, Beckett Hamilton could be an interesting pick as someone with offensive upside, but someone that could also settle in to a two-way, grinder role in the NHL.

This past season in the WHL he had 24 goals and 62 points in 67 games played, and while that may not necessarily translate to the next level, Hamilton could be a very good player at the NHL level, but at least a good offensive contributor in the AHL.
