It's still only summer, with the 2026/27 hockey season still months away, but when things get going, the massive games and big time tournaments will get started rather quickly.
Perhaps the most important for the future of the Calgary Flames will be the 2027 World Juniors, hosted by Edmonton and Red Deer, and with a growing prospect pool, there will be a strong presence for Flames at the tournament. With arguably the greatest prospect pool in franchise history, the Flames should have at least six players featuring in the tournament, making it a must-see tournament for Flames fans.
It's going to be a few months until we see teams for the event, but for Team Canada, there should be a heavy presence of Flames prospects, with Cole Reschny (1C) and Carson Carels (1LD) predicted to feature for Canada at the event by WJCRankings.

Last year, it was Reschny, Zayne Parekh and (at that time future Flame) Carson Carels representing Canada, and while there will be many more Flames featuring at the tournament, two playing for Canada would give Flames fans something more to look for at the event.
Obviously, this is no official account with insider information, but given how important this tournament can be to the development of a player, to see several player represent Canada with many others expected to feature for other countries would show just how far this prospect group has come under GM Craig Conroy.
