The Calgary Flames 2026/27 season might get ugly, and in December, they've got a road trip that could be the worst stretch of the season.

The Calgary Flames schedule was released on Thursday, and while the team aren't going to be contenders in 2026/27, it's safe to say that there's plenty for Flames fans to look forward too over the next 12 months.

Unsurprisingly though, the schedule is going to be a tough one, and after a rough October, things aren't going to get much easier for a Flames team that clearly lacks high end talent. On the day of schedule release, we covered five can't miss games for the Flames, and today, we'll talk about arguably the toughest road trip of any team in the NHL this season.

That trip takes place between December 10 and 22, with the team heading to six different cities in 12 days, with matchups against the New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars.

Of those teams, four were playoff teams a year ago, with the Islanders boasting star Matthew Schafer and a young, talented team, while the Florida Panthers have reloaded this summer after back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in 2024 and 2025.

By this time, the Flames will have already battled some of the toughest opponents in the National Hockey League, and with 33 games before the Flames get to this road trip, it's highly unlikely that they'll have more than 10 victories on the season.

Ultimately, this is a Flames team that's going to struggle throughout the 2026/27 season, and while the young players will gain valuable experience this season, if it's not already over by the beginning of this stretch of six games on December 10th, it certainly will be by the end of it on December 22nd.
