Longshot at Making the NHL

Joe Iginla, Yan Matveiko, Aidan Lane, Jaden Lipinski, Jakob Leander, Simon Katolicky, Bode Laylin

Each and every year, it seems as though a player comes out of nowhere to make an impact at the NHL level, and given how deep the Flames prospect pool is, there are many candidates that could do just that. The biggest name of everyone in this group is the son of a franchise legend in Joe Iginla, and while many wrote him off when the Flames drafted him in 2026, with a good campaign in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants, he could be a potential bottom-six forward one day. Last season, Iginla had 15 goals and 31 points across 59 games, so while he remains a long-shot, given the excitement around his last name, he'll be given every chance to make an NHL roster one day.

Beyond that, most of the players in this category are late round draft picks, with the likes of Simon Katolicky and Bode Laylin representing some high upside players that could shock the Flames moving forward. Ultimately, none of these players should expect to make it to the NHL one day, but if they did, it would be a huge boost to the future of the organization.
