Points Milestones
The Calgary Flames saw a distinct lack of scoring in 2025/26, with the team leader in points being Matt Coronato with 45, the lowest scoring leader in Flames franchise history for a single season. However, that should go up in 2026/27 with the arrival of some exciting young players and others on a full-time basis, so who should we be keeping an eye on for scoring milestones?
Joel Farabee
Joel Farabee was a very good, all-round player for the Calgary Flames in 2025/26, and while he didn't set the world on fire, he posted 20 goals and 38 points while playing a good two-way game. In 2026/27, he's approaching 250 career points, as he currently has 113 goals and 245 points, so in a role on the Flames second line, he should secure the 250 point mark very quickly.
Morgan Frost
A player acquired in the same trade as Farabee, Frost showed off how electric he can be down the stretch following the departure of Nazem Kadri, and whether he's extended or not before the season, he will get significant time as the Flames 1C early in the year. While he's not been dominant consistently in Calgary, Frost showed what he can do, and now, given that he's just 10 points away from the 200 mark, he should hit that fairly quickly, and if he keeps up the pace from his play post-deadline, he could even push for 250 with a career year.
Matt Coronato
Matt Coronato may not have the highest ceiling of young plyaers in Calgary, but the potential is there, as he has posted back-to-back seasons of 47 and 45 points, and at 23-years-old, he could become a consistent 60 point player in the NHL one day. Now, the former first-round pick is just 49 points away from 150, and while it would take a career year to get there, if he's on a line with Matvei Gridin and Morgan Frost, the potential is there for that line to explode and give all three career best seasons.
Mikael Backlund
Mikael Backlund's career has been nothing short of very consistent, and over the last few years, he's managed to increase his scoring output, with the captain putting together 43 points a year ago following six other seasons of 45 or more points. While it would take his highest total since the 2022/23 campaign, Backlund is just 44 points short of 650 in his career, and with two great campaigns to finish things off, he could close in on 700 before he retires as an all-time Calgary great.
