While the Flames have shown a great willingness to draft out of Europe and even the United States despite the departure of many Americans from the Canadian market, their bread and butter under Craig Conroy remains the Western Hockey League.
This year, the team will have many players in the WHL, and while the season has already begun, there's another great way to watch these prospects play for free, with games being streamed on YouTube this year. Below is a rundown of Flames prospects in the WHL and when you can catch them in action next.
Joe Iginla (Vancouver Giants) - next game September 26th, one game already played this season (1G, 0A, 1P).
Mace'o Phillips (Medicine Hat Tigers) - next game September 26th, two games already played this season (0G, 2A, 2P).
Jakob Leander (Calgary Hitmen) - next game September 25 at the Scotiabank Saddledome, two games already played this season (0G, 1A, 1P).
Bode Laylin (Everett Silvertips) - next game September 25th, one game played already this season (0G, 0A, 0P).
Chase Harrington (Spokane Chiefs) - next game September 26th, Harrington still at Training Camp with the Calgary Flames.
OHL
While there's many Flames prospects in the WHL, there's just one in the Ontario Hockey League, and that is 2026 fifth-round pick Simon Katolicky, and while he was picked late in the draft, he's showing immense potential as a draft steal.
It may not be as easy for fans to catch the OHL action, as fans will need to sign up to FloHockey instead of catching the games for free on YouTube.
