Team Canada
Last year, Team Canada won bronze in what many saw as a very disappointing tournament, but this year, they're a clear favourite again, and their roster will see several Calgary Flames prospects play key roles.
Outside Chance - Chase Harrington
Many people, Flames fans included scoffed at the selection of Chase Harrington in the second-round of the 2026 NHL Draft, and looking at the 2025/26 numbers with the Spokane Chiefs (28 goals, 57 points in 61 games), it's tough to see why. On top of that, he plays one of the most physical games of any prospect in the Western Hockey League, and at the World Juniors Summer Showcase, he was a headache for any opponent.
While he got the opportunity on Canada's fourth line in the finale of that tournament, his place in the team is not secured, but given that Canada need some grit on top of the talent, it makes sense that he could be a member of their final roster.
Lock - Carson Carels, Cole Reschny
Not only are both Cole Reschny and Carson Carels returning players for Canada and locks to make the roster, but it's more likely than not that one, if not both will be wearing letters for the team, with Reschny rocking the 'C' for Canada's finale against the USA.
Throughout the Summer Showcase, Reschny was consistently the best player for Canada, and after posting 6 goals and 35 points in 36 games played at North Dakota this past season, he's set to be the play driver for Canada at 5v5 and on the PP1 at World Juniors.
Unfortunately, in this short tournament, Carels was not quite as impressive, but given that he's got a few months of action alongside Reschny upcoming at NDU, he will settle into his role and his chemistry well, and given the physical two-way game that he plays, he could thrive with Canada when the lights are on bright.
