The 2025/26 NHL regular season has come and gone, and for the Calgary Flames, there were plenty of positives, but mostly, it was a season full of struggles.

The biggest positive of course was the arrival of the future, with Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin and Hunter Brzustewicz all establishing themselves as key pieces of the Calgary Flames future. In total, the Flames had 12 rookies appear in the lineup this season, and for many of them, they represent the future of the organization.

But, if that future is to include some Stanley Cup Playoffs success, there will be many more players to make their debut for the Flames, with the team having significant draft capital already on top of the promising prospect core they've already built. So looking into the future, we will now analyze which players will make their debuts with the organization and the NHL next season as the next wave of Calgary stars hopefully emerges.

Cole Reschny/Ethan Wyttenbach/Cullen Potter

As of right now, all three of Cole Reschny, Cullen Potter and Ethan Wyttenbach have commited to the NCAA for one more year as they will represent North Dakota, Quinnipiac and Michigan State in 2026/27. However, we saw several college free agents make their NHL debuts with the Flames this season, and when their 2026/27 regular season comes to an end, don't be shocked to see one, two, or potentially three of them get a game or two at the end of the season.

These three aren't the only promising players from the 2025 NHL Draft, but after landing Parekh and Gridin in the first-round back in 2024, it's safe to say that if the Flames can hit on at least two of them, it's another major boost for the organization and their rebuild. As of right now, it's more likely to be Reschny and/or Wyttenbach that take to the Flames late next season after Potter was injured in his freshman season, but after the arrival of several Flames in the past 12 months, fans should be looking forward to them making their debut next season.
