The Calgary Flames 2026/27 season may end in heartbreak for any fans hoping this team could make a potential Stanley Cup Playoffs push, the overwhelming expectation is that this season will be a struggle.
Unfortunately, any hope of this team potentially making a push will be all but extinguished early in the season, as their October slate is truly one of the toughest in the National Hockey League, capped off by a visit from the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.

The first three games of the month and the season are very winnable, with the Flames playing Seattle at home, followed by a roadtrip to Vancouver and Seattle, but beyond that, things get very, very tough. Following that stretch, nine of their next 11 games come against teams predicted to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with their only potential repreive coming against the Kraken again.
In that time, the Flames play the Ducks twice, the Avalanche twice, Toronto, Edmonton, Minnesota, Detroit, Carolina and Vegas, all of whom are projected to be much, much better than Calgary in 2026/27.
By the end of the month, the Flames will have played 13 games, and if they're lucky, they'll be taking home points in four of them, and while it's a very long season, if the team have less than 8 points by the end of October, it will signal that they're bound to be a bottom-three team in the NHL by seasons end.
