Powerplay Points: Matvei Gridin
Last season, Matvei Gridin was arguably the Flames biggest bright spot, and after making the AHL All-Star team in just 37 games played, he showed genuine star potential over the last two months of the NHL season. Where he truly shined was on the power play, as he recorded 1 PP goal and 7 points despite not joining the PP until after the trade deadline, and next season, he'll play arguably a key role on the Flames top unit.
There are obviously questions about the QB role on the top power play unit, but after building chemistry on that top unit, Gridin, Frost and Coronato will all hope to pick up where they left off to end 2025/26.
Whether he takes the leap or not in 2026/27, only time will tell, but if Gridin is given the freedom to play on both the Flames top line and PP unit with familiar names, he should be able to take the opportunities with the man advantage to dominate.
Assists: Jonathan Huberdeau
This one all depends on Huberdeau's health heading into the regular season, as the latest update from GM Craig Conroy has revealed a setback in his return from injury, meaning he may miss time early in the season.
However, if Huberdeau plays significant time this season, he's going to get just as much ice time as anyone, and given the playmaking abilities that he still clearly has, he's got the potential to put up big assist numbers this year.
Sure, the number won't be anywhere near his career high of 85 with the Florida Panthers back in 2021/22, but if he's anywhere near 100% for the majority of the season, look for Huberdeau to be very effective as a passer once again in Calgary.
