Good morning Calgary and happy August!

In yesterday’s Hot Start article, the poll question was asked “Which Flame will hit the 20 goal mark first?”.  Sean Monahan currently leads the poll with 40% of the votes.  The poll is still open if you have not voted yet.

Last night, Flame For Thought posted the video of the infamous 1986 Steve Smith own goal which propelled the Calgary Flames past the then two-time defending champion Edmonton Oilers.  Here is the video again for folks my age to reminisce and folks younger than me to experience possibly for the first time.  Definitely a nifty find from the CBC Digital Archives.

The Calgary Flames “C of Red” forum has a discussion going on about which prospects will actually make the leap to steady minutes in the NHL.  So now I ask you, which two Calgary Flames forwards on the list below (injuries excluded) will play in the most games for the Calgary Flames in the upcoming season?  I voted for Johnny Hockey and for Corban Knight.  The games I saw Knight playing against the Sherwood Park Crusaders (the team I volunteer with) while he was in the AJHL, he won me over.

Lastly for today, a funny tweet from the Calgary Flames twitter account in regards to new goalie Jonas Hiller.

Have a great day Flames fans!
