Good morning Calgary Flames fans. I hope the severe thunderstorm warnings did not develop into anything serious for your neck of the woods.
The Flame For Thought “re-introduction series” looked at incoming goalie Jonas Hiller. Some folks believe Hiller and his two year contract are just a bridge to get us to Joni Ortio. Well folks, this is a very sturdy bridge! Born February 12, 1982 Jonas Hiller is currently the 2nd oldest player on the Calgary Flames roster. Do you know who the oldest current Flame is? (answer at bottom of article)
Other players that have been re-introduced to the Flame For Thought family are TJ Brodie and Mikael Backlund. The re-introduction series continues tonight with Sven Baertschi.
Calgary Flames first round draft pick, 4th overall, Sam Bennett had himself a very busy game last night for the Canada World Juniors. After sitting out Wednesday’s meeting between Canada and Russia, Bennett would collect an even strength assist, a power play goal and three minor penalties on Thursday evening. Canada would go on to defeat the Russians 6-3. Canada plays the Czech Republic tonight. Canada defeated the Czech’s 6-2 on Tuesday.
Born September 2, 1981 Brian McGrattan is the oldest current Calgary Flame. Have a great day Flames fans!
