The best mornings are always mornings after a win. Our Calgary Flames defeated the University of Calgary Dinos last night 3-1. In storybook fashion, David Wolf scored the game winning goal in his first ever game in North America. So with that, good morning Calgary Flames fans!!
The Calgary Flames training camp begins this morning (September 18) with fitness testing and medicals. On ice sessions begin tomorrow (September 19) at 10AM. Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun was nice enough to put the training camp roster neatly into the following tweet:
A new name recently added to the training camp roster is invitee defenseman Nolan Yonkman. Who the heck is this 6’6″ 33 year old who seems to be destined to play in the AHL? Let’s turn to The Hockey News for answers:
"Assets: Has a tremendous combination of size and strength from the back end. Can lay on punishing hits and owns a hard shot from the point. Will drop the gloves.Flaws: Lacks good skating ability. Doesn’t have great puck-handling skils, which prevents him from raising his game to another level. Is somewhat injury-prone."
If there is still some concern in the back of your mind because Michael Ferland, Johnny Gaudreau, and Sam Bennett sat out last night’s game versus the Dino’s, please allow this picture tweet from Mr. Ferland to ease your concerns.
Recently Flame For Thought posted a “Help Wanted” article, if you are attending any of this weekend’s training camp sessions and want your voice heard across the FanSided nation, simply fill out an application. Please and thank you!
Have a great day Flames fans!!
