Calgary Flames Extend Win Streak To Five Games With Win Over Coyotes
The Calgary Flames won 2-1 against the Arizona Coyotes on December 8th. They now extend their win streak to five games and their point streak to six games.
The Calgary Flames won 2-1 against the Arizona Coyotes in overtime on December 8th. A bit of a repeat of the first meeting between the two, eh? In that first meeting on November 16th, it was the first game without Johnny Gaudreau this season because of his injury he suffered the day before. But no problem, because the Flames have Michael Frolik who scored the game-winner that day.
So what happened in this game? Well of course, we have the 3-on-3 champion, Mr. Johnny Hockey himself, who set up Dougie Hamilton on a great play. And of course, he ended up scoring in OT which would be the GWG.
There were a lot of scrums in this game and a few fights too. Many angry players. Especially Garnet Hathaway, who got into a fight with Max Domi, and Hathaway ended up giving him a bloody eye. Just look at this:
Boy, that will hurt tomorrow. Domi doesn’t really get along with many Flames players, does he? (Insert reference to him and Dougie Hamilton’s fight during the preseason).
The Coyotes opened up the scoring in the first period after their power play ended, so the Flames also continue to be special (Get it? Like special teams. Sorry, moving on). They were 1/4 on the PP and killed off all three penalties tonight. They now have five PPGs in their last four games.
The Calgary Flames are now 8-1-2 in one-goal games and continue to improve. They are now also tied for first with the Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific division. Given that the Oilers do have a game on hand, but still. An incredible feat for the Flames, especially with how their season started.
In more incredible feats, Johnny Gaudreau now has multi-point games in all three games since returning from his injury. He also now leads the team in points with 17, even with missing ten games. He also now has nine points in his last six games. Man, I don’t know what I did in a past life to deserve having Gaudreau on the team I cheer for, but thanks past-life-me.

It was an incredible win and the Flames now improve to 15-13-2 and they continue to slowly and quietly climb their way up the standings.
