Kris Versteeg

Kris Versteeg didn’t do a whole lot this week. Just one goal and one assist. However, those stats aren’t the reason for him making a star of the week.

He got into a fight in the third game of the week against the Rangers. Now, all players in the league have to keep their jersey “tied-down”, and if they get into a fight and it wasn’t tied down and their jersey comes off, that results in a game misconduct.

I believe this was Versteeg’s first fight of the season and I’m sure he probably wasn’t expecting to get into a fight. Ergo, he didn’t find the need to tie down his jersey. But he did get into a fight. And his jersey did come off.

However, this fight isn’t the reason he made a star of the week. While he was being ejected, he decided to give sort of a “Queen’s Wave” to the fans as he’s leaving the ice. And this was very funny and he deserves a star for this alone.
