Calgary Flames Daily: Post-Game Win, Not Phased By Trade Deadline
Good morning Calgary Flames fans! The Flames are coming off of a huge win against the LA Kings and now we’re in prime-time of trade deadline. Let’s take a look at news surrounding this team over the last 24 hours.
The Calgary Flames are coming off of a huge overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings last night. They were calling this a “four-point night” since the Flames were five points ahead of the Kings while the Kings still had a game on hand. If the Kings won, they would have only been three points back with one game on hand.
With that win, the Flames are now six points ahead of the Kings with just one more game played. Actually, speaking of the Kings and the fact that it’s trade deadline day, there’s this:
That tweet itself is rude and offensive and I will not stand for this.
But in all seriousness, that’ll be really awkward if Jarome Iginla does go to the Kings (cross our fingers this doesn’t happen) and the Flames are the reason they don’t make the playoffs. Again. For the second time in three years.
That was a bit of a tangent, let’s go back to some post game fun. And what’s a post-game win without some post-game comments?

Via Calgary Herald:
“The one thing we always knew about Ells is he’s a battler and a worker and he’s never deviated from that all season,” coach Glen Gulutzan said after the 2-1 triumph over a game Kings squad. “Solid again tonight when we needed him.”“We’re totally fine with our group,” said Giordano, who delivered what Gulutzan deemed the biggest hit he’d seen in his six NHL seasons when he crushed Dustin Brown late. As players we get along – that’s an important thing. It’s a tight-knit group. We’ve proven, especially in the last little bit, we can put together some good stretches and beat some really good teams.”

Now, let’s move on to something more stressful and let’s go back to talking about trade deadline.
Trade deadline
The Calgary Flames have already made two key moves that have already benefit them by acquiring Michael Stone from the Arizona Coyotes and signing Matt Bartkowski to a two-way contract. It already seems like they’ve had their trade deadline.
But of course, there’s still the hope that Calgary Flames fan-favorite, Jarome Iginla, will come back. There have also been rumors over the last few weeks that he could go to the Edmonton Oilers. If that happens, I will be writing a very angry letter to his agent.
But moving on, the Flames don’t seem too phased or worried about deadline. They’ve filled out that top line RW which is something they’ve been struggling with, but with how well Micheal Ferland has been playing on that top line, it’s a bit of a sigh of relief.
Via Calgary Herald:
“I think with the acquisitions of Bart (Matt Bartkowski) and Stoney (Michael Stone), our room is feeling like we’ve had our trade deadline,” said Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. “It gave us a boost, for sure. We brought in two quality people and that solidified our depth on defence. I don’t think the trade deadline is affecting our guys. When you’re in that room, they feel pretty focused at the task at hand on the next (18) games.”“It’s just a little more certain here.”“You never really know exactly what’s going to happen,” said Bartkowski. “But I just think it’s more certain this year. We’re not going to be dealing five or six guys away, we’re in a good spot. We’re pushing.“It’s just a little more certain here.”
