Happy Saturday Calgary Flames fans! The Flames will play their last game of the regular season tonight. Let’s check out some Flames news.
The Calgary Flames will play their last game of the regular season against the San Jose Sharks tonight. This is the last game of the season and who the Flames are playing in the first round is still up in the air. If the Flames lose tonight and the Nashville Predators win, then the Flames will play the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round. If the Flames win, no matter if the Preds win or not, the Flames will play against whoever’s first in the Pacific Division. Which is also still up in the air.
That could either be the Anaheim Ducks or the Edmonton Oilers. Again, depending on how tonight goes, basically. There’s still a lot of uncertainty.
The Flames and Sharks have already met each other four times this season. The Flames took three of those games and the Sharks won one of the games. Now they’ll both get to meet each other one last time before the playoffs start. These two teams will definitely not meet each other in the first round, however there’s a possibility of meeting in the second round. Of course, with some factors, but there’s still that possibility.
Calgary Flames
Some other news, but Matthew Phillips will join the Stockton Heat, the Flames AHL affiliate, on an ATO (Amateur try-out). Phillips was playing with the Victoria Royals of the WHL and was selected by the Flames in the sixth round at the 2016 draft. During the WHL regular season, Phillips finished tenth overall in points with 90 points in 70 GP and led the Royals in that category. He was however tied for third in goals with 50 and was one point off from the lead at 51.
