Happy Sunday Calgary Flames fans! It keeps getting warmer and warmer in YYC. Let’s check out some news surrounding this team over the last day.

News surrounding the Calgary Flames gets slimmer and slimmer as the off-season goes on and on. But don’t worry, we’ll still be here everyday to bring you some fun Flames stuff! Last night was the NHL draft lottery, we already know the Flames wouldn’t be in that top 15 since they made the post-season, but at least the Edmonton Oilers couldn’t win this time!

Feels nice, hey?

But then you remember that they’re up 2-0 against the Anaheim Ducks in the second round and it’s not so nice anymore.

So let’s talk about something else that’ll put us in a better mood! Like Calgary’s very own Chad Johnson who will be playing for Team Canada at the World Championship that’s starting in about a week now. Someone who may not be too happy about this? Chad Johnson’s wife. They now have to postpone their honeymoon for hockey. Again.

I mean, I’m sure she’ll be rooting for him, of course. She still gets to go to Paris now! So that’ll be fun.

Via Calgary Herald:

“We were going to go to Phoenix on Monday, and when we were down there, we were going to plan our honeymoon trip to Greece,” said Johnson. “So that’s kind of changed those plans. But my wife has been very supportive of this opportunity so she and our honeymoon has, again, taken a backseat to my hockey, but she understands.”

Johnson right now heading into the off-season doesn’t have a contract, but he said that won’t phase him for this tournament.

“Some players don’t do these types of things because they don’t have a contract, because they don’t want to risk injury,” Johnson said. “I thought about that, but for me, these opportunities don’t come very often.“I love being a part of Canada, I love being Canadian, I love being part of Hockey Canada. So, for myself, to put on a Canadian jersey to play for Team Canada, it was a no-brainer for me … I didn’t think about it being something I have to do because of my contract situation. I think my body of work over the past two years speaks for itself.”

Well, let’s hope you can help your country to a win, Chad!
