It’s already August! Can you believe it? This summer has been flying by. There are 64 days left until the regular season. Let’s look at a Calgary Flames #64.

How is it already August!? There is only a little over two months until the regular season! I still remember when the Calgary Flames were swept by the Anaheim Ducks like it was yesterday. Probably because I still cry myself to sleep every night from it. It’s fine. Let’s move on.

Everyday until the start of the season, we’ll be looking at some Calgary Flames players whose numbers correlate with the number of days left until the start of the season! I got this idea from our friends over at BlackhawkUp.com, go check them out! They’ve been doing this since 100 days until the season starts.

Since there are 64 days until the regular season, let’s look at #64 Garnet Hathaway.

Stats with Minor Teams, Regular Season:

Clearly we can see here that Hathaway doesn’t spend a lot of time with the Flames. Going undrafted, Flames GM Brad Treliving liked what he saw from Hathaway with the Flames farm team, the Abbotsford Heat and then with the Adirondack Flames (when they relocated). After that season ended when Hathaway put up 19 goals and 36 points in 72 games. (Stats taken from eliteprospects.com). With that likability, Treliving signed him to a two-way two-year deal with an AAV of $775,000.

Hathaway scored his first NHL goal this past season, on November 20th, 2016 against the Detroit Red Wings. That remains his lone goal of his NHL career so far.

The Flames continue to see potential in the guy which is why they gave him a contract extension. A one-year two-way contract with an AAV of $650,000.

I’d like to point out that his full name is John Garnet Hathaway. Meaning this entire team is just filled with Johns and Michaels. I see you, Brad…
