The Calgary Flames finally won an exhibition game last night! Let’s check out some more news surrounding this team over the last 24 hours.

It took them four tries, but the Calgary Flames finally won an exhibition game last night with their win over the Arizona Coyotes. They came out strong and remained as the stronger competitor for the majority of the game.

The line that impressed the most? The Johnny GaudreauSam BennettMicheal Ferland line. They were on fire basically every shift. Gaudreau had two goals last night and Bennett had three assists. While Ferly didn’t have any points, he was still a factor on the ice.

Wow, it’s almost as if Sam Bennett is actually a good player or something… It seems like he actually plays well when he plays with good teammates. Who would have thought? I mean, it’s not like we’ve been saying this literally all of last season of anything…

Head coach Glen Gulutzan had some (rightful) praises for Sam Bennett too.

Via Calgary Herald:

"That’s the step for him, and I think that’s totally possible [to produce points on a diferent line].We know that Johnny and Ferly are good players and that line is a good line (with Monahan) in the National Hockey League. And when you plunk in Benny, one of the tell-tale signs of good players is when they play well with good players and they fit right in.So I have no question that he’ll be a driver on his line."

When playing with good line-mates, like we saw last night, Bennett shines. And when he plays with good line-mates, we see his true playmaking abilities. In the two games that Matthew Tkachuk was suspended this past season and Bennett played alongside Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik, it was only for two games, but he was incredible.

And Gaudreau, who had a few breakaways from passes from Bennett, agrees too.

"He’s a skilled player. So for me personally, playing with a player like that, it’s not hard to find things and get things going. When he plays like that, it’s easy to make plays and find the net."

I know it’s only preseason, but it’s fun watching Bennett excel and seeing his true potential. Let’s just hope he’s paired with decent line-mates this upcoming season.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any Tweets of the day today because I’m at a computer that doesn’t allow Twitter. Next time.
