The season starts next week! Let’s have a discussion about how preseason and training camp has been going for the Calgary Flames.

The Calgary Flames still have three games of preseason left before the real games start next week. Every day, the team has been cutting their roster size down and after the game against the Winnipeg Jets tonight, I’m sure we’ll be seeing some more cuts.

There are still five defencemen fighting for that sixth and even seventh spot. So only two will make the cut our of: Tyler Wotherspoon, Matt Bartkowski, Brett Kulak, Rasmus Andersson, and 2017 first round pick, Juuso Valimaki.

We also have some forwards who are fighting for their shot at a spot on the opening night roster. And potentially a full-time position with the team. The game tonight will be a majority of these forwards who are still fighting for their chance; not many vets in tonight’s game.

Some notable people to watch will be Mark Jankowski, who finally made his NHL debut last season. There will also be Spencer Foo, who signed as a free-agent earlier this year after coming off a successful year in the NCAA and was a runner-up for the Hobey Baker.

That being said, I decided to ask the other writers here at Flame for Thought some questions regarding all these players during training camp and preseason. Let’s have a virtual roundtable discussion.
