Calgary Flames Daily: Freddie Hamilton on waivers
It’s the first day of November so of course, it has to start snowing in Calgary. Let’s check out some news surrounding the Calgary Flames.
It’s been an eventful morning in Calgary Flames news. Well, more than it has been as of late. But after the mandatory time that Jaromir Jagr had to remain on IR, everyone was wondering if Mark Jankowski would be sent back down or if we would be seeing someone put on waivers.
If Jagr were to return to the lineup on Sunday, everyone assumed that Jankowski would be sent down. But when he didn’t return and their next game wasn’t until Thursday, people were assuming that Jankowski would end up staying up and someone else would be put on waivers. And we were right.
Earlier this morning, Freddie Hamilton was put on waivers with the intention of him to clear and be sent down to the Stockton Heat. However, it’s also been confirmed that Jagr will still be out of the lineup tomorrow.

So far this season, Freddie has just one assist in two NHL games and has played 16 minutes of ice-time. Other than that one assist, he’s been somewhat quiet, to be quite frank. He has a CF% of 40% (Given it has only been a little over 12 minutes TOI at even-strength), and his CF% rel. is the worst on the team, at -8.89. However, that could also be attributed to the fact that he hasn’t played a lot and thus, the team hasn’t generated as much shooting attempts with him on the ice as the other players.
Mark Jankowski on the other hand, has a CF% of 53.85%. Again, let’s keep in mind that he’s only played in four games. And while he hasn’t had any points, he’s definitely come close multiple times. And him playing at centre with Sam Bennett on the wing has been a big improvement.
Via Sportsnet:
It’s been a great experience,” he said. “It’s been a great process. Ever since I was drafted here in 2012 I wanted to play at the Dome in front of the ‘C of Red.’“They’ve been patient with me, I’ve been patient, and I think it’s paying off now.”
