It was a good day for Calgary Flames players at the World Championship. Let’s check out what happened on the seventh day of the tournament.

It was yet another successful day for Calgary Flames players at the World Championship! Two were in action: David Rittich for Team Czech (sort of) and Johnny Gaudreau for Team USA.

With Rittich playing the day before, he got the night off while Pavel Francouz got the nod. Francouz stopped all 21 shots he faced to help the Czechs win 3-0 over Team Belarus. This helped the Czechs move up to third place in Group A with nine points in five games.

Johnny Gaudreau for Team USA had quite the good game as well over the Koreans. While Team Korea opened up the scoring early in the first period, the Americans came back big, scoring 13 unanswered goals to win this game 13-1 for their fifth straight win.

The Americans opened up their scoring before the midway mark in the first period with a play starting from Johnny Hockey. He ended the night with three assists, now giving him a point in every game so far at the tournament. He now has one goal and six assists in five games at the tournament. His six assists tie him for fifth among all skaters at the tournament.

Team USA continues to lead Group B with 13 points in five games.

Gaudreau and Rittich will each get Saturday off while Mikael Backlund for Team Sweden and Bill Peters for Team Canada will be in action on Saturday. The Czechs next game will be on Sunday as they take on France and hope to keep that playoff spot alive and USA’s next tilt will also be on Sunday against Team Norway, also hoping to secure their Group A lead.
